Abstract
This thesis is culled from my engaged perspective as writer, recipient, and coordinator of South Carolina Arts Commission's (SCAC) Statewide Arts Participation Initiative (SAPI) grant, which was funded through the Wallace Foundation, and from my simultaneous engaged perspective of developing and teaching Clinton Junior College's (CJC) first offering of academic course ART101: Art Appreciation.
