Abstract
Assessing diversity and discrimination on campus is the first step toward a progressive policy of inclusion, but many institutions struggle to collect the data necessary for positive change. Members asked us:
- How do contacts measure diversity in the student body?
- Who is responsible for data collection and analysis?
- How do contacts determine the level of discrimination by students, faculty, and staff on campus?
We've collected insights from private and public research institutions on how they collect data and organize diversity initiatives. This report recommends an organizational model in which departments assess and promote diversity while central diversity offices analyze departmental and institution-wide data, recommend best practices, and offer an administrative superstructure for departments to build initiatives.
