Historical Note
The author, Albert Miller Hillhouse was born on December 8, 1902 at Waynesboro, Georgia. He received an A.B. degree from Davidson College in 1924, a J.D. degree from New York University Law School in 1930, an M.A. degree in Economics from the University of North Carolina in 1931 and a Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University in 1937. At the time of the publication of the book, Hillhouse was Professor Emeritus, Cornell University and resided in Danville, Kentucky.
Scope and Content Note
Pierre Gibert, French Huguenot, His Background and Descendants by Albert M. Hillhouse chronicles the family history of the Pierre Gibert family from the 1700s through 1977. The author focuses on the "European background of the Gibert family plus a systematic unfolding by sketches of the genealogy of all the lines and branches". The book includes history of the French Huguenots, biographical sketches, historical sketches, a selected bibliography, photographs, and an index.
