Scope and Content Note
The Benjamin Mayo Diary consists of a typescript copy of Massachusetts resident Benjamin Mayo’s unpublished Civil War Diary. Benjamin Whitman Mayo (1836-1908) served in the Union Army in Company I, 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. He describes the condition of the army, it’s movements, and army life during the American Civil War.
