Scope and Content Note
The Confederate Imprint is an original imprint issued during the American Civil War on August 18, 1863 “To the people of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri and the Allied Indian nations” at Marshall, Texas by the governors of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Missouri. It seeks to build up the support and confidence of the southern people in the Confederacy following the Union forces capture of New Orleans, LA which split the Confederacy, along the Mississippi River.
Provenance
The Confederate Imprint was transferred from the Mary Elizabeth Massey Papers(Accession 20) on January 17, 1977.
