To determine the rankings, the magazine reviewed the nation's roughly 2,000 four-year colleges and universities to discover which ones provide the best value for the money.
The magazine screened out those that have a below-average graduation rate, financial difficulty or fewer than 500 students and then ranked the 727 that remained on 26 factors in three categories: educational quality, affordability and alumni success
