Presenter Bio

Dr. Elizabeth Dulemba, Associate Professor of Design

Dulemba is an award-winning illustrator, author, teacher, and speaker. One of her most recent projects is On Eagle Cove, with New York Times best-seller and prolific author Jane Yolen. Her 2019 novel, A Bird on Water Street, earned her the Georgia Author of the Year Award.

In addition to her duties as a Winthrop faculty member, Dulemba teaches in the MFA in Children’s Book Writing and Illustrating program at Hollins University in the summers. Prior to her education career, she was the corporate art director and in-house illustrator for packing, apparel, animation, and communications firms; and served as illustrator coordinator for the southern region of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and as a board member for the Georgia Center For the Book.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Georgia and a Master of Fine Arts in Illustration degree from the University of Edinburgh – Scotland. She just completed her doctorate in children’s literature at the University of Glasgow.
