Abstract
This interview was conducted with Alberta Tucker Grimes (1909-2002) who was an educator and counselor from Greenville, South Carolina. Alberta Grimes started the first Head Start program for the state of South Carolina in Greenville, SC. Her work became the standard and model for similar programs that sprouted throughout the state. In this interview, she discusses her background and childhood, racial prejudice, teaching in Black schools, Black School Counselors, Jessie Jackson as a student, Charles Hall a famous psychologist in Washington, and financing Black Education.
