Scope and Content Note

The Bill Cheslock Papers collection contains photographs of Rock Hill, an Official Program for the Rock Hill Cardinals (1966) and a videotape on hitting instruction by St. Louis Cardinal’s coach Joe “Ducky” Medwick, which also shows many shots of Rock Hill especially Main Street. William Charles “Bill” Cheslock (1944-) took the photographs in 1966 while he was playing for the Rock Hill Cardinals, a semi-professional baseball team in the Western Carolina Conference. The photographs include images of Municipal Stadium, baseball parks, the Catawba River, rural scenes and rural houses, African Americans, Main Street, Park Inn, Town House Motel and Restaurant, Westbrook Grocery, First Presbyterian Church, Highway 21 bridge, Welcome to Rock Hill signs, Nation Ford Historical Marker, and the Rock Hill train depot.
