The Winthrop Chapter of the American Association of University Professors was founded in 1958 to ensure the academic freedom for Winthrop faculty members. The collection consists of minutes, correspondence, newspaper clippings, brochures, pamphlets, membership records, and other records related to the local and national organizations. Also included are records relating to the South Carolina State Conference and Southeast Regional Conference to the AAUP.

Provenance

The records of the American Association of University Professors-Winthrop College Chapter were deposited in the Winthrop Archives by Dr. Harley Scott of the Winthrop A.A.U.P. on May 28, 1978.
