Historical Note
The Pierian Book Club of Rock Hill, South Carolina was federated on February 25, 1954 and existed as a daughter club of the Perihelion Book Club of Rock Hill. The object of the club is listed in the constitution and states “this club shall be to encourage and sustain the intellectual development of its members and to promote better citizenship, inviting therein such social features as may contribute to this purpose.”
Scope and Content Note
The Pierian Club of Rock Hill Records consist of yearbooks, correspondence, newspaper clippings, a scrapbook, constitutions and bylaws, and other records relating to the club and its’ members.
The Pierian Book Club of Rock Hill, SC was federated on February 25, 1954 and existed as a daughter club of the Perihelion Book Club of Rock Hill. Provenance
The Pierian Club of Rock Hill Records were deposited as part of the Perihelion Club Records and separated from that collection in 2003. The original Perihelion Club Records were deposited by Eva Wald on December 10, 1976 and an addition was made by Mrs. Helen McCosland on September 11, 1978. Another addition was made by Mrs. W.P. Sibley in June 1982 and on September 29, 1986. Doris Leitner deposited another batch of Perihelion Club Records in September 2000.
