The collection consists of a booklet titled Speech of the Hon. W. F. Colcock, Delivered Before the Meeting of Delegates from The Southern Rights Associations of South Carolina at Charleston, May 20, 1851 printed in Columbia at the South Carolinian Office in 1851. The booklet consists of a speech given by United States House of Representatives member from South Carolina (1849-1853) William Ferguson Colcock [1804-1889] before a meeting of delegates from the southern Rights Associations of south Carolina at Charleston on May 20, 1851. The speech concerns states rights and the question of the secession of South Carolina and possibly other states from the Union.
