Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of photographs taken by Frances McCown Reardon (1920-2001) while attending Winthrop from 1939-1941. Frances is a 1941 graduate of Winthrop College. Her photograph collection consists of several images of classmates and fellow Class of 1941 graduates including: Dulice Harley Martin; Marguerite Beatty Hicks; Ida Carter Cromer; Clara Webb Maxwell; Elizabeth Murphy Moseley; Frances lived in “Old North” (Margaret Nance Dormitory) for her junior and senior years after she transferred from Anderson Junior College. The photographs show life on campus from 1939-1941 and includes dormitory life, student life, and campus buildings.

The Frances McCown Reardon Photograph Collection was donated to the Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections by her daughter and Winthrop graduate (Class of 1967) Carol Creech on July 29, 2016.
