Winthrop Close Up Best of Show Fall 2007
Winthrop Close Up is a weekly news cast produced by the Advanced Journalism and Advanced Broadcast Production classes at Winthrop University. The Best of Show episode deals with the changes in security on campus including security in the dorms, Mandatory Water Restrictions due to the Drought, Plans to tear down the Old Peabody Gym, Myth Buster Segment on the Dacus Library, New Campus Alert System, the ETV Poll on African Americans Political Views, Student’s thoughts about the Jena 6 incident, redevelopment on Cherry Road, Segment on J-Walking, the Segment on the York County Fair and the re-opening of Durango. The show also showcased the Eagles Sports with the tribute to Deandre Adams, who deserves scholarships athletically, Athlete profile on David Carton, Segment on Red Shirting, New Volleyball Coach, the New Climbing Wall, and the Segment on the New Paintball Club. Winthrop Close Up also looked at the Best of Entertainment with the Soulja Boy debut, the new band called the Red Action, enjoying the late night spots in Rock Hill, Creativity with the Common Book, Faculty Flute Player, Segment on using your bodies as a canvas, Segment on Improv This, and Two New theatre productions. Also on “The Best of Show”, how teachers get tenure, Alumni Segment on Louise Haddad, Charlene Rodriguez and the St, Francis Rescue Center, Segment on how much campus personnel know about the school, and the Taste of the Town on Si’s Pizzeria.
