Winthrop Close Up is a weekly news cast produced by the Advanced Journalism and Advanced Broadcast Production classes at Winthrop University. This week’s episode deals with the Annual Carowinds Media Day with special 30th birthday celebration for the Thunderroad ride, the 6th Annual SCBA Job Fair, Winthrop Beautification Day, Students and Tattoos, and Winthrop Students Opportunity with Fox Studios and American Idol. Winthrop Close Up also takes a look at Elizabeth Wilson-Partinide as new Dean for College of Visual and Performing Arts, Model UN, plans for the new student center and other changes around campus, how the offices of SOAR and AmeriCorps help with community service, the effects of the War on Iraq, effects of school and work, students thoughts on the rising tuition costs, election of new council chair for the Council of Students Leaders, and the Eagles Sports Update along with the Entertainment and Cultural Events update.
