Abstract

A poetry Reading.

This proposed poetry reading will present poems by faculty from the Winthrop English Department who come from different backgrounds and areas of study. The focus of the poems to be presented will offer the poets’ insights on their perspectives on “race, class, gender, and sexuality.” The following poets will be part of the panel: Jo Koster, Susan Ludvigson, Mary E. Martin, Jane Smith, Cathy Stewart, and Evelyne Weeks. This group has presented a poetry reading every spring at Winthrop, but this reading will focus on poems that address the topics suggested by the 2016 SEWSA Conference.
