In 1982, Dr. Glenn Thomas agreed to become Winthrop's Interim President when Winthrop's sixth president, Dr. Charles Wail stepped down. Dr. Thomas would serve as Winthrop Interim President until Dr. Phil Lader was installed as Winthrop's Seventh President in 1983.
