Abstract
In this interview, Nancy Carol Davenport Madre (1944–2009) speaks with Virginia Harris about her involvement with the Extension Homemakers’ Club in North Carolina. Madre discusses her participation in the organization and explains how her relatively young age and the opportunity to connect with other younger homemakers influenced her involvement. She describes activities and interests associated with the Homemakers’ Club and discusses her experiences as a younger member of the organization.
Madre also discusses her personal interests and hobbies, particularly fishing. She describes living near the Albemarle Sound in North Carolina and the opportunities this provided for fishing and other recreational activities. The interview also addresses Madre’s selection as the Young Representative of the East to attend the National Homemakers’ Council meeting in New Hampshire in 1981.
