Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of Archibald Steele and His Descendants: A Short Historical Narrative Of Archibald Steele The First, As He Is Called In This Book, And His Descendants, With Genealogical Tables Showing The Proper Place In The Family Of Every Member Of It Whose Name Could Be Learned by Newton Chambers Steele, M.D. published in 1900. The book follows York County, SC resident the Archibald Steele (1728?-1805) line up to 1900. The book includes lineage charts, photographs, and anecdotes relating to the Steele family. The book includes handwritten notes and updates to various entries and was formerly owned by Bessie Poag who was a supervisor in the Winthrop Training School from 19221-1950.
