The author, Irene Frances Key Padgett was born in 1931 in Umapine, Oregon. IN 1954, she married Oscar Padgett, born in 1924 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. They have two sons. She was a public school teacher in addition to family historian.
Scope and Content Note
Key Is My Name by Irene Frances Key Padgett of Shelby, North Carolina records the family history of the Key family of Virginia and North Carolina from the late 1600s through 1980. The volume includes photographs, transcriptions of family documents, biographical and historical sketches, family stories and legends, a bibliography and an index. Many other family surnames are included other than Key. Please see the attached Table of Contents, Bibliography and Index.
