Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of bound copy of In Memoriam Samuel Spencer: Exercises at the Unveiling of the Monument Erected by the Employees of the Southern Railway Company published in Atlanta, Georgia in 1910. The Memoriam includes a biography of Samuel Spencer (1847-1906) who was a railroad executive and a Confederate Cavalryman during the American Civil War. He became the first President of Southern Railway Company in 1894 and served as such until his death in a railroad accident in 1906. There is also information concerning the monument erected in his honor in Atlanta, Georgia in 1910 by employees of the Southern Railway Company.
