This collection consists of The Record Of Fort Sumter From Its Occupation By Major Anderson To Its Reduction By South Carolina Troops During The Administration Of Governor Pickens compiled by W. A. Harris and published in 1862. The Record consists of correspondence, orders, instructions, reports, notes, speeches and other communications pertaining to the discussions about the incidents that took place at and around Fort Sumter between December 17, 1860 and August 3, 1861, just before and just after the start of the American Civil War. Participants in these incidents and discussions include South Carolina Governor F.W. Pickens, United States President James Buchanan, South Carolina Militia General James Simons, United States Army Major Robert Anderson, Isaac W. Hayne, United States President Abraham Lincoln and others.
