Historical Note

The Rock Hill Girls’ Home opened in 1972 under the sponsorship of the Junior Woman’s Club and there primary goal was to reunite troubled girls between 12 and 16 who need short-term counseling with their families.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Rock Hill (JWC) has served the Rock Hill community since 1955 as a “not for profit” philanthropic volunteer organization. During its fifty plus years of service, JWC has accomplished many things such as assisting in the beginning of the Adult Education program and the Girls’ Home of Rock Hill. The JWC is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of South Carolina.

The Junior Woman's Club Girls' Home Records details the establishment and operation of the Rock Hill Girls Home by the Junior Woman’s Club of Rock Hill, SC. The records consist of minutes, correspondence, promotional material and newspaper clippings documenting the history, purpose, and the progress of the Girls Home sponsored by the Junior Women's Club of Rock Hill.
