Scope and Content Note

The Weir Family History was compiled by Mary Lynn Weir in 1979 (number 5 of 50) titled The Weirs: A Scotch Family From Antrim Ireland. The history provides information on the Weirs of Chester County, South Carolina and historical background on the covenanters immigration to South Carolina. The family is traced to David Weir, Sr. born in Ireland in 1727 and includes information about the migration of the Weirs to Georgia, Arkansas, and east Texas. A few of the more prominent allied families are Capeheart, Covington, Curtis, Green, Hanks, Neel, and Youngblood.

Provenance

The Weir Family History was donated to the Archives on January 1, 1984 by Mrs. Cliffard S. Weir.
