Heber Rhea Thomas “Dimples” Workman (1918-1988) was a 1937 graduate of Winthrop College and was an English professor at Columbia College from 1957 to 1977. She was married to journalist and politician William Douglas Workman Jr. and the mother of former mayor of Greenville, SC, William Douglas Workman III.

Scope and Content Note

Heber Rhea Thomas “Dimples” Workman (1918-1988) was a 1937 graduate of Winthrop College and was an English professor at Columbia College from 1957 to 1977. She was married to journalist and politician William Douglas Workman Jr. and the mother of former mayor of Greenville, SC, William Douglas Workman III. The Heber Rhea Thomas Workman Papers consist of correspondence, reports, resolutions, minutes, membership lists, newsletters, and newspaper clippings relating to Mrs. Workman’s tenure as Winthrop College Alumni Association President and to the history of Winthrop alumni-administration relations.
