Historical Note

The Town and Country Garden Club was organized in Rock Hill, SC in April 1953 with 22 charter members. The group became federated in 1955 with the Garden Club of South Carolina and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. The object of the club is to promote the growth of our native trees, shrubs, wild flowers, and birds, and to encourage civic planting and civic beauty.

Scope and Content Note

The Town and Country Garden Club of Rock Hill Records consist of a club history, correspondence, constitutions and bylaws, minutes, financial records, flower show schedules, program notes, year books, newspaper clippings, and a scrapbook. The Town and Country Garden Club was organized in Rock Hill, SC in April 1953 with 22 charter members. The group became federated in 1955 with the Garden Club of South Carolina and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. The object of the club is to promote the growth of our native trees, shrubs, wild flowers, and birds, and to encourage civic planting and civic beauty.
